Who is Av. Hasan Hüseyin Uzun? #
Av. Hasan Hüseyin Uzun was born in 1993 in Tokat. He continued his education in Istanbul and completed secondary school at İstanbul Adnan Menderes Anadolu Lisesi.
In the national examination taken after secondary school he gained a place at the Istanbul University Faculty of Law, where he completed his undergraduate degree. During his studies at one of Turkey’s oldest law faculties he turned in particular towards criminal procedure, family law and inheritance law.
After completing the compulsory legal traineeship he registered with the Istanbul Bar Association and began practising as an independent lawyer. He works from his office in Bakırköy, handling files across the whole of Istanbul and throughout Turkey.
The areas in which the office handles the most files are criminal law, family and divorce law, inheritance law and employment and social security law. These may look like very different fields, but they have something in common: all four bear directly on a person’s daily life, are governed by time limits, and become hard to put right if the evidence is not organised from the outset. Files in other areas are also accepted.
Practice areas #
The four areas in which files are concentrated are these:
- Criminal law — defence and representation of victims from the investigation stage through to execution of sentence; serious and ordinary criminal files, the exercise of the right to give a statement and to defend oneself, and objections to detention.
- Family and divorce law — uncontested and contested divorce, maintenance, custody and contact, liquidation of the matrimonial property regime, and protection orders against domestic violence.
- Inheritance law — certificates of inheritance, identification of the estate, collusive transfers by the deceased, abatement, renunciation of inheritance and dissolution of joint ownership.
- Employment and social security law — severance and notice pay, reinstatement, overtime and unpaid wage claims, workplace accidents and occupational disease, and establishment of employment periods.
Files are also handled in real estate and tenancy, compensation, enforcement and insolvency, commercial and company, consumer, insurance, administrative and tax, IT and data protection, healthcare and malpractice, immigration and citizenship, intellectual and industrial property, construction and zoning law, as well as mediation and arbitration. For the full list see the practice areas page; if you are not sure which heading your matter falls under, try the legal roadmap tool.
Our approach #
We take up every file by first asking whether it can be resolved without going to court. Where the dispute could be settled through negotiation, mediation or agreement, we consider those routes first; where litigation is necessary, we prefer to build the plan for the evidence from the very beginning.
How we work #
- Transparent fees: Fees and likely expenses are set out in writing before the work is accepted.
- Regular updates: You are told of every development in your file, both before and after each hearing.
- A realistic assessment: The weaknesses of a file are discussed openly from the outset.
- Accessibility: Meetings can be held at the office or online by video.
Where we work #
Our office is in Bakırköy, but we handle files in all 39 districts of Istanbul and throughout Turkey. Files on the Anatolian side are handled at the Anatolian Courthouse, and those on the northern axis at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
