What is Maturity?

A debt becoming claimable; the moment at which the creditor may demand performance.

A debt falls due when the term expires or when the condition provided for in the contract occurs. Enforcement proceedings cannot be opened for a debt that is not yet due. In debts payable by instalments, an acceleration clause makes the whole debt claimable if a single instalment is missed.
