What is Court with Subject-Matter Jurisdiction?
The rule determining which court hears a case according to the type and value of the dispute.
The rules on subject-matter jurisdiction are a matter of public policy; the parties cannot agree otherwise and the court applies them of its own motion. If the court declares it lacks jurisdiction, the competent court must be applied to within two weeks; otherwise the case is treated as never having been brought.
