What is Court with Territorial Jurisdiction?
The rule determining in which locality’s court a case is heard.
The court of general territorial jurisdiction is that of the defendant’s domicile. In actions on a contract the court of the place of performance, in tort the court of the place where the act was committed, and in actions concerning immovable property the court of the place where it is situated are also competent. Apart from cases of exclusive jurisdiction, the parties may agree on the forum.
