What is Possession?
The state of exercising factual control over a thing. It differs from ownership; a tenant is also a possessor.
Possession gives rise to a presumption of ownership and allows protection against unlawful interference, including the use of force. Acquisition of immovable property by extraordinary prescription also rests on possession.
